You Know About Energy-efficient Products But Do You Use Them?

Energy-efficient products are constantly being introduced to the U.S. market, yet buildings continue to account for nearly half of the nation’s energy consumption and building owners spend a whopping $40 billion annually on energy. So, we ask ourselves: are building engineers and contractors actually taking advantage of energy-efficient products? McGraw Hill Construction (MHC) and Siemens Building Technologies set out to find out. They surveyed engineers and contractors to gauge the level of awareness and use of innovative building technologies among industry professionals today.

The survey focused on 10 of the industry’s most successful energy efficiency technologies. MHC’s Harvey M. Bernstein and Donna Laquidara-Carr let Engineering News-Record‘s Contractor Business Quarterly readers in on their findings. Here’s some of what they shared:

The results show that the majority of the industry recognizes energy efficiency technologies but haven’t used them. Those that have see the benefits in what they provide and how they can achieve desired energy efficiency goals.
