Diamond System Builder

Diamond System Builder™ from Mitsubishi Electric is a system layout and software selection program that provides start-to-finish functionality to help minimize challenges associated with designing VRF and ductless HVAC systems.

The comprehensive, cloud-based program is an extremely helpful tool for engineers, contractors and architects, as it supports users from design and specification through installation and start-up documentation.

Design and Specification

The software uses specific project parameters input by the user to determine whether adjusted heating and cooling capacities meet load requirements. Built-in error indicators and safeguards make sure designs don’t exceed system limitations and that line lengths, connected capacities and control schemes are within the system’s requirements.

This allows the user to “try out” a variety of measurements to find the exact fit for a project.

AutoCAD schematics are automatically generated with wiring and piping diagrams to help streamline the installation process.

Once designed to the proper specifications, the program generates an easy-to-follow spreadsheet to help simplify project quoting and equipment tracking.

Engineers and HVAC professionals use Diamond System Builder for a wide range of projects, from large-scale office buildings to hotels and everything in between.

Julie Gorham, designer II at Excel Engineering, recently used the software to design a VRF HVAC system for Fairway Independent Mortgage in Madison, Wisconsin.

“We used the Diamond System Builder software and worked with the project representative when sizing the VRF system,” said Gorham. “The program was very helpful in my design. It allowed me to easily make modifications when changes were made to the project. Overall, it helped me save a lot of time in my design work.”
