M-Series Helps DIY Network’s “Blog Cabin” Turn Blah Into Awe

Every year, the DIY Network airs a one-hour special hosted by tool expert and TV personality Chris Grundy called “Blog Cabin.” Based on the simple idea of “You Design It, We Build It, You Could Win It!” the annual episode follows the renovation process of a home that’s in need of a major overhaul. After asking Internet October 7_Blog Cabin Imagefollowers to vote on the design features, expert hosts of six of the network’s hit TV shows team up to transform the dilapidated building into an ideal home or vacation getaway, which one lucky sweepstakes winner gets to call their own. We joined in on the fun this year in bringing a rundown 1890s home back to life.

Located in Atlantic, N.C., this year’s Blog Cabin sits on three-acres of waterfront property. Built more than a century ago, the home was not only severely outdated but weather-beaten and damaged by termites and water intrusion as well. To add to the challenge, the home was built one room at a time, so the layout was choppy, the rooms were undersized and the 7-foot-high ceilings made the space feel like a shoebox.

October 7_Blog Cabin Image 2The Blog Cabin team selected our M-Series systems to compliment the home’s new innovative and inspiring makeover and design. Before Blog Cabin stepped in, the master and guest bedrooms were each cooled by a single window air-conditioning unit. Now with our ductless systems, the new occupants will breathe cleaner, fresher air and be able to live comfortably all year with an HVAC system that’s far more energy-efficient than the window units or a traditional ducted system. And, as an added bonus, our M-Series system allowed the team to convert the old and unused screened-in side porch to a cozy, serene sunroom where the homeowners and their guests can relax and enjoy looking out at the beautiful scenic landscape.

Randomly selected out of the 18,649,549 entries, the winner – and now the owner – of this year’s Blog Cabin was announced during last Friday’s episode. To see the transformation and just how lucky the new homeowner is, take the Blog Cabin 2013 Tour at
