BUILDER Announces Annual Builder’s Choice Design Awards

For more than 30 years, BUILDER magazine has enlisted top residential builders and architects to participate in its prestigious Builder’s Choice Design Awards. The annual competition demonstrates the latest trends and influences in architecture, design and community planning across the U.S. Each entry is evaluated by a panel of jurors who are recognized for their expertise in the building industry.

The award program consists of three categories. This year, nine projects received the Grand Award, 14 projects were named Merit Award winners and only one walked away with the coveted Project of the Year Award: Concord Riverwalk, West Concord, Massachusetts. The team uniquely transformed an empty suburban area and two historic houses into a pocket neighborhood (a grouping of smaller residences, often around a courtyard or common garden) with an appealing, pedestrian-friendly approach. The homes are sleek and modern in design, and with an overall goal of achieving net zero energy, each home features high-performance mechanicals, triple-glazed windows, sealed wall systems and our very own ductless zoning systems.

Concord Riverwalk exemplifies an industry shift toward pocket neighborhoods that not only provide the opportunity for a small, close-knit community, but also have a strong focus on green living and urban accessibility. We’re proud to be part of such an exciting and innovative project.
