Mitsubishi Electric Earns Masters in Motivation Award

Motivation Masters Image

INCENTIVE magazine’s Motivation Masters Awards recognize the most effective incentive programs throughout the year. We are proud to announce that our Ductless Rewards program was recognized with this year’s Channel Sales honor.

Running through the fall, our goal with Ductless Rewards was to motivate the sale of ductless systems, with the more deliberate intention of inspiring professionals who may not have used our products previously. Our South business unit marketing manager, Leah Montgomery, said, “We were trying to think of ways to motivate contractors to quote [our systems] on every job.”

Among those who have worked with us in the past, many had not taken part in our Diamond Contractor™ program. By partnering with another Georgia company – Incentive Solutions – we were able to bring awareness of these programs to our friends – new and old.

Check out some of the other Motivation Masters that inspired in 2015.

Introducing the CITY MULTI® Efficiency Evaluator

The industry continuously calls for better, easier, faster products. The CITY MULTI Efficiency Evaluator is our latest response.

The cloud-based application compares our Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) solutions to existing or proposed HVAC systems. It calculates expected energy usages, life cycle costs and LEED® points for each system based on multiple building factors. This allows contractors to not only tell but show customers just how the systems stack up.

The CITY MULTI Efficiency Evaluator uses a sophisticated building simulation program called WeidtSim. It evaluates a variety of HVAC technologies, including Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems, water source heat pumps, fan coils and chillers. It is also compatible with multiple devices for added convenience.

The CITY MULTI Efficiency Evaluator immediately transforms your sales pitch into a powerful, convincing illustration for your customers. It enhances the onsite consultation experience and reinforces why our VRF solutions are the ideal solutions.

Contact your local sales rep to learn how the CITY MULTI Efficiency Evaluator can help you on your next sales call.

Farewell to Bud Nardello

Please join us in wishing Salvatore “Bud” Nardello a dear farewell. Our loyal, long-time employee will be retiring this Friday, October 31.

Bud first joined the division more than 25 years ago as the western regional manager. He was one of the four original team members on board when Mitsubishi Electric first launched ductless technology in the U.S. He served in a number of leadership positions before taking on his role for the past seven years as our vice president of sales.

Bud’s outstanding leadership and enthusiasm for our products and the industry has been integral to our success. We congratulate him on a triumphant career and wish him the best of luck as he moves forward into the next chapter of his life.

The Washington Post Features One of Our Own!

October 20_The Washington Post Features Smiley El-Abd ImageIf you picked up the October 19 edition of The Washington Post and flipped to Post Magazine (Page 30), you’ll find the friendly face of Smiley El-Abd, one of our commercial area sales managers. The reputable newspaper heard about the comfort Smiley’s been bringing to local Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. residents and decided to do a feature on his work in the community. Surprisingly enough, we’re not talking about Smiley’s experience with cooling and heating systems but another lifestyle staple, especially in the nation’s capital: cycling.

During the day, Smiley meets with HVAC customers – architects, contractors and engineers – to educate them on how our systems bring comfort to people’s lives. At night and on the weekends, his clients are cyclists and his systems are bicycles but the way he approaches the job is the same. In fact, he draws on his experience as a mechanical engineer – using physics, geometry and a thorough attention to detail – and applies the same philosophy:

  • The machine should adapt to the consumer, not the other way around.
  • Good performance begins with good “bones.”
  • Make adjustments to optimize performance and enjoyment.
  • Diagnose problems and devise solutions.

Please join us in congratulating Smiley on this well-deserved recognition! To read the full article in The Washington Post, click here.

Residential Energy Guarantee: Equipping Green Builders with Evidence

1.214 blog image

Results from an independent study found that people are 70 percent more likely to purchase a home and 75 percent more likely to choose builder-suggested products if they had an energy guarantee. With that in mind, Bonded Builder Warranty Group launched a new Residential Energy Guarantee program that provides third-party verification of a home’s energy performance and savings – allowing builders to prove their construction’s energy efficiency without facing skepticism or doubt from their clients.

The Residential Energy Guarantee is based on the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) rating report projections on the total energy use of the home. As a testament to the validity of the program, Bonded Builders Warranty Group will pay a home buyer for any additional annual natural gas and electric costs that are over the HERS project for qualifying energy-efficient homes.

As an added incentive, Bonded Builders Warranty Group is offering a special discounted pricing for builders who partake in the Home Innovation Research Labs National Green Building Standard (NGBS) Green Certification Program. For participating builders, Bonded Builders Warranty Group will offer the guarantee at the same price that is usually only available for builders purchasing more than 100 guarantees per year, making energy-efficient construction more appealing and affordable for even the lowest-volume home builder.

To learn more about how both builders and home buyers can benefit from the Residential Energy Guarantee, read the article from BUILDER magazine here, and visit for energy-efficient HVAC products that’ll help secure the guarantee.

HVACR Manufacturers Expect Growth in 2014

According to a recent ASHRAE/AHR Expo survey, HVACR manufacturers are feeling hopeful about improving their business prospects in the coming year. The survey, sent to over 1,000 manufacturers across the globe, revealed that the majority of HVACR manufacturers – 79 percent, in fact – believe their 2014 prospects are either excellent (19 percent) or good (60 percent).

Ninety percent of respondents expect their sales to increase in 2014, while the remaining 10 percent predict sales to stay the same. Most noteworthy, however, is the fact that not a single respondent expects sales to decrease in the upcoming year, which we hope indicates that 2014 will be a promising year for our industry.

Here are some additional survey highlights:

  • This year’s survey registered a 4 percent jump in optimism when compared to 2013, when 86 percent predicted sales would increase and 3 percent thought sales would decrease.
  • Participants noted the hospital/health care industry as 2014’s most promising segment, followed by light commercial, heavy commercial, data/telecom centers and office buildings.
  • Manufacturers felt reliability and first costs were most important to customers.

Finally, when asked what is expected to be the most important trend in the industry next year, manufacturers highlighted energy efficiency and sustainability. As strong proponents of sustainable products and technology since our inception, we look forward to an exciting 2014 in the HVACR industry!
