CITY MULTI® L-Generation Earns Another Honor

For the second time in two years, our products have been awarded BUILDINGS magazine’s Money-Saving Products Award. This year, it was our CITY MUTLI® L-Generation Air-source technology. In 2015, our Diamond Controls Solutions brought home the honor.

The goal of every product we design is to provide personalized comfort without wasting energy or space. To have two products recognized for their cost-saving attributes highlights just how successful our efforts have been. Paired together, Diamond Controls and L-Generation technologies create a system that is customizable for various commercial applications. We are proud that these systems have been recognized alongside so many other cost-effective building products.

Be sure to check out all of the winning products in BUILDINGS magazine’s June 2016 issue, released earlier this month. To read more about our award winner, click here.

Projects From Our Colleagues: Morgan & Associates, Kansas City

Our colleagues in Kansas City, Kansas, Morgan & Associates, Inc., have been doing some meaningful work specifying our Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) products. Recently, they helped the Mercy & Truth Medical Clinic – a faith-based, childbirth facility – renovate its building, which re-opened last month. The alliance between the Mercy & Truth Medical Mission and the New Birth Company is working to help fight the high infant mortality rate impacting Wyandotte County, Kansas. We’re proud that Morgan & Associates are a part of this initiative.

As can be expected, birthing facilities demand a specific environment to help keep mothers and their newborns healthy, safe and comfortable. Bringing adequate air flow into the birthing rooms meant maneuvering through three rooms on the first floor of the renovated brick building. Morgan & Associates recognized that recommending and installing VRF would provide maximum flexibility between the offices, exam rooms and birthing suites – each having its own comfort needs.

For the birthing suites and nursing station, Mercy & Truth selected our CITY MULTI® VRF technology with heat recovery, while the remaining office space runs on our standard VRF heat pumps. Morgan Knipp, president of Morgan & Associates, said, “Being able to contribute our expertise in the HVAC area to help counteract this frightening infant mortality rate serves such a higher purpose. We are eager to see that statistic change and the lives transformed from this place.”

It’s Trade Show Season – and We Keep on Trucking

We want to thank everyone who took the time to step inside our Mitsubishi Electric Demo Truck on the showroom floor at this week’s AHR Expo. If you missed it, passersby had the opportunity to tour the vehicle to get a firsthand look at our latest commercial and light commercial products. Visitors were surprised to find that the equipment on display inside the truck was fully operational. This gave attendees an opportunity to interact with our CITY MULTI® VRF systems and experience just how whisper-quiet they truly are.

Special thanks, as well, to Nicole Curtis, star of HGTV’s “Rehab Addict.” Nicole joined us for a two-hour meet-and-greet, generating long lines for the opportunity to get an autograph and photo!

We also want to take time to thank those who joined us at Cuba Libre for a night of celebration and even a little dancing (yes, we saw you).

We rolled in with a truck and rolled out with cigars, and hope you all had as much fun in Orlando as we had with you!

Introducing the CITY MULTI® Efficiency Evaluator

The industry continuously calls for better, easier, faster products. The CITY MULTI Efficiency Evaluator is our latest response.

The cloud-based application compares our Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) solutions to existing or proposed HVAC systems. It calculates expected energy usages, life cycle costs and LEED® points for each system based on multiple building factors. This allows contractors to not only tell but show customers just how the systems stack up.

The CITY MULTI Efficiency Evaluator uses a sophisticated building simulation program called WeidtSim. It evaluates a variety of HVAC technologies, including Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems, water source heat pumps, fan coils and chillers. It is also compatible with multiple devices for added convenience.

The CITY MULTI Efficiency Evaluator immediately transforms your sales pitch into a powerful, convincing illustration for your customers. It enhances the onsite consultation experience and reinforces why our VRF solutions are the ideal solutions.

Contact your local sales rep to learn how the CITY MULTI Efficiency Evaluator can help you on your next sales call.

Project Profile: Screven Elementary School

Screven Elementary School (Screven) in Sylvania, Georgia underwent an extensive renovation but one problem still remained: an inefficient and dated HVAC system. The original pipes had deteriorated, and a simple repair was out of the question. Superintendent William Bland found a solution when he attended an educational session on our CITY MULTI® units. “The more we studied and researched and questioned other users, the more we liked the product,” said Bland.

Our VRF system provides easier maintenance with less impact on ongoing operations. The entire installation, completed in less than 12 weeks, took place during the summer when school was out of session. The system is compartmentalized, meaning one part can be serviced without having to shut down the whole system. School officials can control the cooling and heating in each individual classroom from a centralized controller as well.

That control has provided the school with substantial cost savings. The average yearly savings post-renovation is $16,226 a year. Screven was also able to remove the boiler and cooling tower, saving on both energy and gas.

Project Profile: 101 Bedford

101 bedfordLuxury apartments are popping up everywhere these days, each bigger and better than the next. A swimming pool, audio recording studio, rooftop event spaces, spas and wine vaults all sound nice from a renter’s point-of-view. From an HVAC perspective, however, these amenities can pose the ultimate challenge.

The 101 Bedford apartment complex in Brooklyn, New York is a 340,000-square-foot facility with 351 luxury apartments. The building needed an HVAC system that could accommodate the loads demanded by its top-of-the-line amenities. The system also had to be discreet, user friendly and have energy allocation capabilities to match its luxurious design.

David Glickman, president, Glickman Engineering Associates PLLC, determined Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) technology was the only possible choice that would satisfy all of 101 Bedford’s requirements – precise control, quiet operation, low energy consumption, heat recovery and ease of installation. He promptly selected our VRF system due to its sophisticated control network. The owner had experienced the difficulties of tenant billing from a previous project, a 98-unit apartment building. Our network calculates the energy used by each apartment, keeping track of all BTU’s for cooling and heating and thus making issues with billing tenants obsolete.

101 Bedford is now more than just a high-end place to live. It is an icon of indoor environmental control, comfort and convenience.

To read more about 101 Bedford, you can access the case study here.

Mitsubishi Electric Donates Comfort System to Wounded Warriors Retreat

September 6_Boulder Crest Retreat Open House

Today we had the opportunity to attend Boulder Crest Retreat’s grand opening of its 37-acre, first-class sanctuary for the Wounded Warrior Project. The ceremony was attended by military leaders, active-duty service members, Wounded Warriors and their families. The day-long event included a speech from Admiral Sandy Winnefeld, vice chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, tours of the retreat, a barbeque meal and outdoor activities with a quintessential campfire and s’mores to top off the night.

Located atop the peaceful Blue Ridge Mountains in rural Bluemont, Va., this retreat will provide the families and friends of America’s Wounded Warriors with a place to “reconnect, recreate, recover and reintegrate” with their loved ones as they are rehabilitating in nearby hospitals.

The goal of the Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower our service men and women who have been injured while protecting our country. The organization depends on donations and volunteers to continue to provide its services to our veterans, so when they approached us about donating one of our CITY MULTI systems for the new reception center at Boulder Crest Retreat, we were happy to participate. We hope that our VRF zoning system will offer the wounded soldiers and their families a year-round comfortable and relaxing environment as they go through the long journey of recovery. Our system will also help the founders of the retreat reach their goals to minimize operational expenses and create a long-term, sustainable facility. It is our honor to help provide this serene space for our nation’s heroes, those who have given so much to serve and protect our freedom.
